The facts

Jubilancy

Jubilancy (jubilancy.ai) is a reflection app built as a mirror, not a coach. You write (or speak) what's on your mind; its AI, called Jubilant, writes back what it notices, quoting your own words. It keeps a memory of everything you've written and brings the past back when it speaks to the present. It gives no advice, sets no goals and makes no clinical claims.

Founded by Tim Radzikowski (San Diego, California), with co-founder Nick Bogart. Launched April 8, 2026. Available on the web (jubilancy.ai), on iPhone (App Store) and on Android (Google Play).

What it is, and what it isn't

Rule used for every feature: if removing an instruction still leaves something true, keep the observation and delete the instruction.

How a reflection works

  1. You write or speak an entry. There's no prompt you have to answer, though a question is offered if you want one.
  2. Jubilant reads it alongside relevant past entries (retrieved by meaning, not keywords) and the long-term memory it has built about you.
  3. It writes back a short reflection in plain language, quoting your words rather than paraphrasing them.
  4. You can mark how it landed: "Not quite", "Close" or "That's it". "Not quite" lets you correct it in your own words, and the correction changes what it remembers about you.
  5. You can write back into the reflection (one follow-up free, two on Pro). It mirrors again, noticing what moved; it never answers questions or gives advice. Then the thread rests.

Distinctive features

Echoes (Pro)

After you write, Jubilancy may show one passage from your own earlier writing, at least three weeks old, that already speaks to what you wrote today. It is quoted word for word and dated, with one line on why it connects. It is not a summary and not a paraphrase: the app checks that every quoted word actually appears in your past entry and drops the echo if it doesn't. Sensitive pairings (drinking, weight, self-harm) are held back so an echo never reads as an accusation. Free users see that an echo exists without its contents.

Open When… letters (free: 1 sealed; Pro: unlimited)

On a clear day you write a letter to yourself and seal it with a condition, for example "Open when I'm doubting the business again". The sealed letter is never shown, not even to you, until the condition is met. Each new entry is checked against your open conditions, and a letter opens only on a strong, evidenced match: the app must point to the words in today's entry that meet the condition. Sealed letters wait at least three days, open at most one per entry, and never open under crisis-adjacent writing. The design rule: never opening beats opening wrong. When an entry reads like a good day, Jubilancy may offer to turn a sentence of it into a letter for a harder one.

The Read: First Read (free) and Monthly Read (Pro)

A short composed piece about your writing, in four parts: What arrived, What kept returning, What you said and what happened, One line worth keeping. Every quote is verified word for word against your entries, and every observation cites the entries it came from; anything that can't be verified is cut, not softened. Your First Read is free once you have five entries (or three entries across two weeks). Pro members get a new Read on the 1st of every month. Past Reads stay yours even if you cancel.

Bring writing you already have (the First Read on /try)

Without an account, you can paste writing you already have (an old journal, notes, or an export of your conversations with ChatGPT or Claude) and get a First Read across it in the same visit. Nothing is stored. If you then sign up, you can import that writing, keeping its original dates, so Jubilancy's memory starts with years of history instead of a blank page. Journal import is also available any time at /import.

Memory you can see and correct

Jubilancy keeps a memory of the patterns, people, goals and life events in your writing. On the Memory page you can see each one, how confident it is, and the entries it came from, and you can edit it, dismiss it or tell it to forget. You are the only authority on what is true about you; the mirror can be argued with.

Behind the scenes, Jubilancy also builds a personal map of what you write about, labelled in your own words ("the office thing", not "Career"), with each connection citing the entries it came from. It isn't a separate screen; it feeds what Jubilant notices over time.

Ask your past self (free: one question a week; Pro: unlimited)

Ask a question about your own life ("Have I always dreaded Sundays, or is that new?", "What did I say I wanted, and what happened?") and get an answer built only from your own entries. Every claim cites the entry it came from, and every quote is checked word for word; anything that can't be verified is dropped. If your writing can't answer the question, it says so. Ask "what should I do?" and it shows you what your writing says about it; it never decides for you.

What's gone quiet (Pro)

On the Memory page, Jubilancy can show what has gone quiet in your writing (a name, a place, a word that was regular in your earlier months and hasn't appeared lately) and what arrived in its place. The counting is done in code from your own entries, with exact dates; the AI only chooses which changes are worth naming and describes the writing, never what it means about you. It needs at least three months and twenty entries, and it only runs when you open it. Anything that reads like a loss, and anything touching drinking, weight or self-harm, is left out.

Your Circle

A few people whose perspective belongs close to yours. Nobody in your Circle reads your entries; you share the ones you choose. An invite carries your first name and nothing you've written. Someone new who joins through an invite gets their First Read after three entries instead of five.

The Quiet Wall and Company

Each week there is one shared question (always a question, never a lesson). Everyone can reflect on it, including free members whose weekly limit is used up. You can opt in to share your reflection on the Quiet Wall, anonymous by default. Others can mark that it stays with them. There are no comments, replies, direct messages or followers, by design.

"Company": when something you write closely matches a reflection someone chose to share, Jubilancy may show a short anonymous line from it ("Someone here, in March: …"), so you know someone else felt this too. Small counts are never shown.
